Thailand Krabi Trip 2016

Before we begin with the pictures, let's have a little introduction to Krabi, shall we? Krabi is located in southern Thailand. Some of the activities that can be done there are island-hopping, snorkeling, rock climbing, sea kayaking, jungle trekking, and scuba diving.
I visited Krabi 4 years ago with my father, mother and younger sister so I don't quite remember the places I went to. I had to google and wrote down some names that clicked with me! We basically went island-hopping and snorkeling on a speedboat.
We went to Phi Phi Island, Chicken Island, Pranang Beach and Ao Nang Beach. That's about all that sounded familiar to me. We went on a sunset cruise as well, where we stayed on a pirate ship for a few hours, where it brought us to the middle of the ocean to snorkel.

Our hotel, Aonang Cliff Beach Resort

We had just reached our hotel room and there was an incident already. As our hotel was near the forest, it was normal for animals like monkeys to visit the hotel for food. This monkey in the picture apparently entered our hotel room, opened the fridge and started eating the watermelon inside. We had connecting rooms, so we watched in fear in the other room as the monkey did that.

I didn't manage to take a picture of that moment since my whole family was freaking out about the monkey inside the room. They can be quite aggressive. So what my father did was quickly call the hotel staff to come and chase the monkey away. This picture came after the staff closed the balcony door once the monkey was outside. These monkeys apparently snuck in from the balcony door.

Moving on, we got on a speedboat that looks like this and did our island hopping!
Krabi: 4 Islands Private Trip by Speedboat - Krabi, Thailand ...

Once in while, the boat would stop and we could spend some time feeding the fishes around the boat. One thing to note when you go Krabi, bring/buy some white bread in a loaf so you can watch the fishes gather for food. It is a nice sight!

And yes there were monkeys on the beaches also since we're on an island. They'll snatch your bags if you have food inside them so best to not carry food with you or in your hands. They can smell and see it.

They sold food from boats on the island. Something you'll never see elsewhere, I would like. Whether they are ready prepared food or cooked on the spot, I'll never know as we never bought. Something I noticed from the locals there is that they're mostly dark-skinned from being under the sun. So this is the power of the sun rays.

We got on a sunset cruise which looked like a pirate ship from the outside. You can book these tours from kiosks at markets and you basically share the huge boat with other strangers for a few hours. The boat we took was a little taller but yeah, it had a ladder attached so we could go down to the ocean if we wanted. There are food, alcohol and a toilet on board as well.

That's the deck for people to sit in the sun. Living in Singapore, a country that's hot all year round except for the occasional rain, we hate the sun so we sat the shade.

That's my father. He liked the steering wheel and asked me to take a picture for him.

Here are some pictures taken from the sunset cruise. The views of the islands and sunset were amazing and beautiful!

Lastly, we ate a pancake with honey from a roadside store near our hotel and it was amazing! If you go to Krabi or any part of Thailand, their pancakes are a must-try!

My comments:

Weather: 33 - 35 degrees. Very hot and humid. Hotter than Singapore.

Food: Yummy! Definitely worth a try. Their fried egg and chicken are delicious.

Activities: island-hopping, snorkeling, rock climbing, sea kayaking, jungle trekking, and scuba diving

Best Period to go:  Between November and March

Worst period to go: June to October

Things you should bring when you visit (from my experience and opinion):
1. Cap
2. Sunblock
3. Waterproof bag to store valuables
4. A loaf of white bread to feed fishes.
5. Slippers (you need to wear them when you go to the beach/island hopping)
6. Swimming costume/trunks
7. Motion sickness medicine (if you're seasick/can't take boats)
8. Aloe vera gel (to soothe your sunburn)
9. Waterproof cameras
10. Waterproof case to store phones
11. Contact lens (for snorkeling if you wear spectacles. if not, you cannot see anything)
12. Extra clothes to change into since you'll always be wet.
13. Snorkeling equipment if you plan to snorkel. You can rent over there but you gotta pay.

That's about it! Thank you for reading till here! I am so sorry for the low quality and the small number of pictures. Do drop a comment on your opinion of Krabi if you've visited and feel free to share any other tips in the comments!
